From base to Peak, your 4 Days Mount Meru climbing safari begins upon arrival in Moshi/ Arusha, with a briefing and gear check before heading to the Momella gate of the Arusha National Park on the following day. Over the next days, you’ll ascend through lush forests, alpine meadows, and rugged ridgelines to reach Socialist Peak at 4,566m. Along the way, you’ll experience diverse wildlife, including giraffes, buffalo, and monkeys, due to the mountain’s location in a protected park. The route offers an ideal acclimatization climb for Kilimanjaro and rewards trekkers with panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, crater lakes, and high-altitude ecosystems. With experienced guides, armed park rangers, and overnight stays in mountain huts, this adventure balances challenge with comfort and safety.

Full Itinerary
4 Days Climb Mount Meru
Day 1:
Arrival in Tanzania – Briefing & Overnight Stay

Upon arrival in Moshi/ Arusha, you’ll be transferred to your hotel where you’ll meet your mountain guide for a detailed briefing, gear check, and last-minute preparation. Relax and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 2:
Transfer to Momella Gate (1,500m) to Miriakamba Hut (2,514m):

After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate of the Arusha National Park, where the trek begins. An armed ranger will accompany you due to the presence of wildlife. Hike through montane forest with possible sightings of giraffes, buffalo, and Colobus monkeys, reaching Miriakamba Hut by late afternoon.

Day 3:
Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570m):

Today’s hike is steeper, ascending along the ridge with fantastic views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone. You’ll reach Saddle Hut by early afternoon, with an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) in the evening for better summit readiness.

Day 4:
Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Back to Miriakamba Hut:

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, reaching the top (Socialist Peak) around sunrise. The trail is challenging and passes Rhino Point and Cobra Point before reaching the summit. Enjoy sunrise views over Mt. Kilimanjaro and the crater before descending back to Miriakamba Hut for a well-earned rest.

Day 5:
Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate and Transfer to Arusha:

Enjoy a relaxed descent through forest trails rich with wildlife and birdlife, eventually arriving back at Momella Gate. After signing out and receiving your summit certificate(s), you’ll be driven back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

Day 6:
Departure / Optional Safari Extension:

After breakfast, transfer to the Arusha/ Kilimanjaro International Airport or continue with another safari through the northern circuit destinations (e.g., Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Park) as part of your extended itinerary (kindly advice earlier).
